Description
The truncated icosahedron is an Archimedean solid with 60 vertices and 32 faces. A truncated icosahedron closely resembles a soccer ball having 20 hexagonal faces and 12 pentagonal faces. This is the same underlying geometric structure in a Carbon 60 molecule or Buckminster Fullerene. The stellation process involves "pulling a point" off of each of these 32 faces resulting in a spiky fullerene.
